Mykonos, Oh My.

Take a dip while you wait for a table at Kiki’s.

After the heat, hustle and history of Athens arriving on Mykonos was heaven.

We took the ferry and were pleasantly surprised by the trip. We got boarded in no time and enjoyed wifi, delicious coffee drinks and fresh pastries. The ride to Mykonos Kensho Boutique Hotel and Suites was quick and allowed us to see a glimpse of downtown and the windmills as well as Korfos Bay and the general landscape - vegetation of the island. Greens and beiges with a gorgeous turquoise sea behind it.

The Kensho midway up a hill overlooking the beach and the surrounding winding road. It is a great modern white luxury hotel with 2 pools and a perfect outdoor restaurant for breakfast and end of day drinks. The staff could not be more welcoming and the driver they have on staff for hire was amazing and full of great information about where to go and when. We arrived at the hotel in time for a quick change into bathing suits and a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Ornos Beach.

The hardest decision of the day was which restaurant to choose and set up for the afternoon. We chose Pasaji Mykonos after much debate and few recommendations from friends and locals. We took 2 chairs down at the sea shore and were able to order drinks from there. The water was so beautiful and warm after a swim we walked up for lunch at the restaurant where the food was so fresh and delicious. Octopus, greek salads, lemon potatoes and white wine. Just enough time for a nap, another swim and quick walk back - where we sat at the upper level pool and watched the sun set.

That evening we walked down to the beach and up the left side of the cove to a restaurant called Apaggio Restaurant. We sat outside on the dock with the water illuminated below us. The location, food and view were a complete stand out. Steamed mussels were perfect.

The next morning after the incredible breakfast (that was included with our stay

and served in a chic indoor outdoor dining room - love!) we decided to walk into town to . . .

see the windmills and explore.

The city is full of tiny winding alleys full of great shopping both what you’d expect souvenirs

as well

as great fashion boutiques

and sandal shops - impossible to resist. We walked the path along

the water and got our obligatory windmill pic. Make sure and check with the hotel when the

best time to visit is - when the cruise ships are in the town is so crowded it makes it hard to enjoy. For us 2-3 hours was perfect.

After an ocean swim, a bite on the beach and time to head out to Scorpios. An alternative here or if we had another day would have been a 10am reservation at Super Paradise Beach Club. Gets great reviews from friends and sounds like an awesome way to spend the day especially when traveling with a group.

Scorpios is amazing and we can not recommend it enough. It is beautiful and melds into its natural surroundings perfectly. The cocktails are carefully made and delicious. We went for the sunset ritual and loved it. Great bohemian vibe in the fanciest way possible. Had no expectations about dinner and ended up thrilled by the lobster pasta. The spot is amazing and a perfect place to spend the night dancing on the beach. May want to skip that sunset ritual (its early) and head out later - should be noted the beach club there is gorgeous and would be a perfect way to spend the day.

After a very heavy sleep

we took the hotel car to KiKis. KiKis is a restaurant on the opposite side of the island set on the top of a cliff that takes

no reservations, has no electricity, is in the middle of nowhere

and is easily my favorite spot on the island. We got there

early and walked down the hill to the gorgeous sandy cove for a swim and to lay out on the beach.

At 11 or when we saw

people start to arrive we took turns waiting for a table.

We got an incredible table overlooking the sea and had

the most memorable and wonderful meal. It starts with a

visit inside the humble restaurant kitchen where you can

choose from a bunch or homemade salads for a starter. It is followed by the best pork chop made in the most simple

way - grilled over an outdoor fire. We ate and drank and

relaxed in the most charming spot. The best part, once we

were full - we were able to walk back down to the beach and spend a few hours reading, swimming and relaxing. KiKis is

right on Agios Sostis Beach - we stayed at the same cove but

there are plenty of areas to explore.

The other day trip we were choosing from was a boat trip to Delos and Rhenia with swimming and an on-board BBQ. Oh the decisions we had to make…

Ornos Beach at night.

The last night in Mykonos leaves so many options if you didn’t make it to the sunset ritual at Scorpios, an evening at 180 Sunset Bar is a perfect fix. Overlooks the old town, offers a great view and a great drink. And if you're near Ornos beach, dinner at Buddha Bar Beach is another great finale. The view, the sushi and the atmosphere are unbelievable. Ornos beach is also a great place to stop on your way back if you're not quite ready to turn in.

After our last avocado toast and house made smoked salmon we sadly headed back to the ferry terminal - where to next?
